Climate Change theme in the ENO Programme

A call for schools and youth groups

Hi! I am Frank The Frog!

During the last century, the average surface air temperature increased by 0.6ºC globally, which is unusually rapid warming. In fact, the 20th century was the warmest century and the 1990s were the warmest decade in the past 1,000 years

Already, climate change is having many discernible impacts, ranging from the increases in temperature to rising sea levels as a result of melting polar ice caps and more frequent storms and floods. If we do not take action, climate change will cause more and more costly damage and disrupt the functioning of our natural environment, which supplies us with food, raw materials and other vital resources. This will negatively affect our economies and could destabilise societies around the globe.

Climate change is a global problem, and yet each one of us has the power to make a difference. Even small changes in our daily behaviour can help prevent greenhouse emissions without affecting our quality of life. In fact, they can save us money.

ENO programme invites schools and youth groups to join the climate change theme and campaign. Theme will last from November 2006 to January 2007. Resources and free lesson activities are available on the ENO website. There are both online and offline activities like the climate change gallup and Frank The Frog’s pledge bank where we collect pledges for the future. The climate campaign week will be held 15-19 January 2007. A special global day, The March of Frogs will be organised globally 17th of January 2007.
